On April 22, 2015 the City of New Orleans joined the ranks of world-class cities with a strong smokefree indoor air law for the health of the city’s world-famous “cultural economy” hospitality sector workforce, musicians, and public. Harrah’s New Orleans is the18th smokefree indoor air casino for Caesars worldwide and their 7th in U.S.
Shortly after midnight, staff handed out lollipops to smokers and asked folks to extinguish their smokes as the city’s new smokefree indoor air law took effect. Then it was done! The gaming floor was still packed and lively, with hoots and hollers continuing at the craps tables.
“Personally, I am sick and tired of witnessing our beloved musicians and artists suffering and dying from the detrimental effects of secondhand smoke.” – New Orleans musician Deacon John (pictured performing at the Smokefree NOLA celebration).
New Orleans also has a second smokefree indoor air casino: Fairgrounds Race Course and Slots – a Churchill Downs property. We hope you check out both casino entertainment properties when you are in the New Orleans area. Stay tuned for more updates and photos.
